Bombay: Director of security company sentenced to one year in prison for assaulting guard

A magistrate’s court in Andheri recently convicted a 50-year-old IT manager of a security company and sentenced him to one year in rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 for sexually assaulting him. a 33-year-old security guard who worked at the company. .

According to the FIR registered at the Sahar police station in November 2020, the victim worked for a company that provided security guards. The complainant told police that since July 2019, she and others working for the company had not received their salaries and that in February 2020 they had been removed from their jobs.

According to her, on the afternoon of November 2, 2020, the complainant and other ex-employees were invited to come to their office in Goregaon (east) to discuss the matter. But the owner could not be present and the plaintiff was invited into the cabin by the defendant Hemant Rane who was the director (IT-corporate) of the company, according to the FIR.

The Complainant alleged that Rane was alone in his cabin. He grabbed her left hand and touched her shoulder and back inappropriately, according to FIR. Shortly after the incident, she left the cabin and then approached Sahar Police Station and filed an FIR under IPC Section 354.

The case was investigated by Deputy Inspector Sandeep Yasne and an indictment was filed against Rane based on the victim statement recorded before a magistrate. Police said there was no CCTV camera but they recorded statements from three witnesses including those present with her outside the cabin. All the evidence was presented in court by prosecutor Aziz Shah.
