Executive Director/Artistic Director of City Springs Theater Company Brandt blocker announced Ms. Jalise Wilson as director of the Sandy Springs-based non-profit arts organization.
Ms. Wilson is a proud New Orleans native who moved to Atlanta in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor where she earned her BFA in Musical Theater with a minor in Community Action and Social Change. During her studies, she served as an administrative assistant in the Department of Drama and Drama at the University of Michigan. In 2014, Ms. Wilson performed her first professional contract at the Muny Theater in St. Louis, where she earned her Actors’ Equity card and became a proud member of the union. She then signed with a talent agency and performed throughout the New York tri-state area. Since 2017, Ms. Wilson has performed for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Productions, where she achieved the rank of Voice Captain – working as a liaison between artists and senior management, coordinating schedules and assisting with employee performance reviews .
“I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jalise for many years,” Blocker said. “She comes from a strong, talented and beautiful family. I have seen her develop a vigorous work ethic and a sense of professionalism which will serve her well as the company manager of City Springs Theater. She is, quite frankly, the perfect person for our organization; and I’m thrilled to have her join our team!”
The Company Manager is a full-time position with responsibility for all functions related to the management and administration of the company artistic functions of a professional, not-for-profit theater company. The Company Director provides management, logistics, and oversight of all artistic contractors, including cast members (both unionized and non-unionized), production team, creative team, and musicians for all major productions and educational programs of City Springs Theater Company. Ms. Wilson will begin her work immediately with Actors Equity Association to ensure the safe and timely return of union actors to the stage of the Byers Theater at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.
